Janette Barber is the host of “Janette’s Show” on SiriusXM Satellite radio. She was the Executive Producer of Rosie Radio on SiriusXM satellite radio and is also a featured side-kick in the daily ensemble.
Janette is the former five time Emmy award winning Supervising Producer and Head Writer from the Rosie O’Donnell Show. She has written for the Grammy Awards and the Tony Awards. Janette created, produced and co-hosted her own show called Lighten Up on the TV Food Network. Following that, she was Hot Topics Writer on ABC’s The View where, in June of ’08, she earned her 6th Emmy award for Special Class Writing. Janette came to TV by way of stand up comedy where she was a touring headliner until 1996 when she started in Daytime TV.
In print Janette has a USA Today best seller to her credit called Breaking the Rules, Last Ditch Tactics for Landing the Man of Your Dreams (Career Press). Her latest book, released in June of ’08, called Embracing Your Big Fat Ass (Atria) is humorous empowerment for women around the topic of body image.
Janette uses her celebrity whenever possible to aid international humanitarian relief efforts. In the past she has traveled with the aid group AmeriCares to the refugee camps in Albania during the war in Kosovo. She flew into Kosovo itself in the first airlift from any agency to get in after the war. She continued her efforts traveling to the Republic of Congo with medical aid in the aftermath of civil war.
Currently Janette is Ambassador at Large for Medical Missions For Children, a Massachusetts based non-profit which sends volunteer medical teams to third world countries to perform free surgeries on deformed children. She is proud to provide a voice for the extraordinary work that they do. Janette recently traveled with them on a mission to Rwanda and has created a web series, Smile Fix Rwanda, based on the trip.
